We are Team Spotlight, a team of international students from the full time MBA class in PKU.

Our team is like a melting pot of culture, with four individuals coming from different backgrounds and work experiences. Our group filled with many ¡°Aha¡± moments as our diverse experiences allow each individual to bring perspectives and suggestions from many different angles.

To our team, Lenovo had portrayed a strong image as the company that had acquired IBM's PC division and held an unrivaled position in the global laptop market with the Thinkpad brand. It is of no surprise that all of our team members have encountered and used their products before (i.e. Lenovo Y50 Gaming Laptop and Lenovo ThinkPad).

Despite this, we had thought of Lenovo as a traditional manufacturing company with a niche market. It was not until after researching that we realized that Lenovo is so much more than that. On the product front, its continuous R&D efforts have allowed the company to build a wide product offering to deliver to anyone¡¯s personal technology needs. In respect to supply chain management, the company¡¯s innovate and proactive mindset to explore the potential of adopting new technologies, such as blockchain, further secure the company¡¯s sustainability as a business and leadership position in the industry. In terms of marketing, Lenovo has a global reach serving customers around the world with a variety of products. Looking forward, adopting blockchain elements from Libra could allow Lenovo to reach out to and open up their ecosystem to more customers.

Throughout the project, it has been a breeze going into meeting discussions with the Lenovo team. They are very generous with their comments and directions on where and how our team should progress. The Lenovo team has a list of checkboxes that they would like to explore and is not hesitant to guide us in fulfilling these checkboxes. However concurrently, they are very flexible with their requirements, giving Team Spotlight a chance to research and discover new possibilities and willing to listen to these new discoveries.

Considering that Lenovo is the global leading company in the PC manufacturing industry, we knew that there would be a lot to learn about global operation management and strategy. We were drawn to the research topic from Lenovo. Although we did not have in depth knowledge in Blockchain, we acknowledged it to be one of the key technologies in the future. It was a research topic that was very forward looking, to anticipate the changes in the future and embracing them. It was a topic full of possibilities, especially in a large and matured organization like Lenovo. We were excited on the potential outcomes and breakthroughs we might have whilst embarking on this journey with Lenovo.
