About the speaker:
President of City University of Hong Kong from 1996 to 2007, Professor H.K. Chang is Yeh-Lu Xun Chair Professor at Peking University and Honorary Professor of Tsinghua University. Having been Dean of Engineering both in the United States and in Hong Kong, Professor Chang has in recent years focused his academic interest on the history of cultural exchanges across the Eurasian landmass, particularly along the Silk Road.
He was named Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur of France in 2000, awarded Gold Bauhinia Star by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR in 2002 and decorated as Commandeur dans l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques by the French Government in 2009.
Professor Chang is a Foreign Member of Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom and a Member of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences.
